Overview

The British Association of Construction Heads supports, trains and represents members from education & training organisations who aspire to provide outstanding teaching, learning and assessment for the wider construction industry in the UK.

Our Vision

To support the aspiration of an appropriately trained and educated workforce in the UK to meet the needs of the construction sector and its employers and ensure that sufficient, well trained personnel are supplied to the industry.

Our Mission

To support members to deliver outstanding teaching, learning and assessment to meet the needs of the construction industry and contribute to the construction training landscape, and remain at the forefront of contributing to shaping appropriate policy, which applies to our members.

Communicate and Inform

Keep our member colleges at the forefront of the latest in Construction Training and policy which impacts their role

 

Continuing Professional Development

Facilitate or broker training to support Heads of Construction, and teaching teams at the forefront of the latest TLA initiatives and industry practice

Consult & Influence

Shape the UK’s approach to Construction Training by applying BACH’s voice to national and regional policy, and utilize the skills of members of the organisation to formulate our contribution.

Organisational Growth & Sustainability

Increase the number of members to widen the talent pool and broaden the output, influence and support that BACH offers.

Communicate and Inform

  • Supply all members with the latest information on key new governmental policy that affects their training delivery, and enable the opportunity to contribute to shaping the BACH response.
  • Provide details of the changing shape of the construction industry and its recruitment trends to ensure that training content is kept up to date for its recipients and curriculum planning is well informed.
  • Supply up-to-date information on educational policy and practice to enable members to align their delivery with national regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure all members are informed of any funding changes that may impact on their curriculum planning and supporting strategies and influencing choice of curriculum.
  • Work towards comprehensive website and social media platforms as the vehicle to supply all available information quickly and efficiently to all members, and to promote and celebrate successes of member organisations.
  • Support members with engagement to GCAP in its national roll out.
  • Support all Regional Chairs under schedule of regional meetings and NEC.

Continuing Professional Development

  • Arrange and deliver a high quality Spring conference and Autumn CPD event with a broad range of content relating to educational, regulatory and construction industry related updating.
  • Build relationships with various stakeholders (employers/federations/AO’s, CITB etc) to develop and deliver regional and/or national programmes of CPD for Heads of Department and their delivery teams. 
  • Offer a discreet one-to-one support/mentoring/coaching service to new Heads of Department and monitor the impact.
  • Ensure that the content of Regional meetings contain some CPD on every agenda.

Consult & Influence

  • Ensure BACH members views are represented in consultations from government and regulatory bodies.
  • Participate in campaigns relating to funding, contracts (CITB apprenticeships for example) and relay progress to members.
  • Ensure members existing local, regional and national linkages with various stakeholders to influence policy and inform initiatives to members.

Organisational Growth & Sustainability

  • Promote the BACH ‘brand’, and its associated benefits through website, social media channels, and engaging proactive sponsors.
  • Ensure that Principals and Senior Leaders understand the benefits of BACH and how it will support their Construction Staff and Quality of Training.
  • To continue to welcome new organisations into BACH to promote sustainable growth and encourage GCAP membership.
  • Improve the visibility of the BACH ‘brand’ by promotional material for organisations to display, NEC members to use, and encourage individual members to communicate widely on benefits to membership.
  • Maintain financial stability and ensure effective use of income to fully benefit outcomes for members.
